he is not 100 percent right in my opinion, dont get me wrong his probably 70 or 80 percent right, blundering is a problem, but i do believe that some basic knowlrdge of opening, middlegame and ending is necessary, nothing complex but like mating with rook and basic mistakes like the greek gift etcetera are useful else you will keep getting into games where you have the feeling you gradually have a deteriorating position, dont know why and have to give a piece by force anyway...

Taimanov (concert pianist) and Smyslov (opera singer) are my top picks for music people who can play chess. Sting, on the other hand, is a terrible chess player.

In April 2024,, this almost 2 year-old video is looking like one of Ben's best. The comments starting at at 5:55 (especially 6:04) and 49:27 (esp. 50:00) have aged particularly well at this point. It is good to see a player who is solid in his preparation, likes "double-edged" and exciting matches, and gets wins as black. Obviously his Candidates performance didn't come out of nowhere. 4.5 points as black even with one loss! Impressive. Ben, we'll need another video, Gukesh v2. While you're at it, give us some good Candidates 2024 content too! Good luck to Gukesh in the world championsip match later this year!
